This is harmful if swallowed, so you should keep pets away from treated areas.

Does this product have a shelf life? I applied some that I bought last year to a fire ant mound, and the ants ignored it.

This product has a shelf life of one year under normal storage conditions. If you purchased this last year, that could explain why the ants are ignoring it.
